School History
Founded by Michael Ricci, St. Paul City School is a Pre-School, K-8 free public Charter School which opened in the Fall of 1998 in the Frogtown area of Saint Paul, Minnesota as New Spirit School. The school has two campuses four blocks apart. Grades K-5 and the Pre-School are located at 260 Edmund Avenue; Grades 6-8 are located at 643 Virginia Street.
The school is a charter school authorized by the Saint Paul Public Schools. We currently teach approximately 18-22 students per class using the academically rigorous curriculum. Character education is also a part of our daily routine. As part of creating a safe and respectful school environment, our students wear uniforms.
When St. Paul City School opened its doors to its first students in 1998, it was with the intention to bring new educational opportunities to families who live in the heart of our city. Today, we serve a diverse student population of over three hundred. We believe that all students can learn and deserve a school that helps them succeed.
